About the Client & Brief

Sparkenhoe community primary school is an outstanding school located in a culturally diverse area of Leicester city. It has been placed in the top 5% of schools in the UK for progress and attainment and has a reputation for being one of the highest performing schools in the country.

Sparkenhoe were looking to refresh the schools brand identity which could then be applied to various materials such as stationary, signage, posters, signage and any other visual communication collateral for students, parents and for internal staff use. The challenge was to update and the visual identity whilst keeping some of the features of their already existing identity. The demographic was very broad as the new image needed to have a fun and playful feel that would appeal to young children and parents.

Solution and Outcome

Their existing logo had been previously created around a colourful stain glass window which part of the original features of the building. This original feature was preserved but updated and simplified.

For the overall identity the typeface and other brand assets were updated to create a fun, playful and colourful image. The design was kept clean and flexible featuring large bold typographic elements with a strong use of colour as well as utilising the the stain glass symbol where possible.

This project was the result of a collaboration with a trusted design partner.
